Kathleen Saunders (b. Fairfax VA 1990) works in a wide spectrum of media, often using the landscape as a vehicle to explore one's continuous quest for joy among a spectrum of loss, grief, absurdity, and ecstasy. With this in mind, she ultimately questions what it means for us to find satisfaction and contentment in life, particular against the dwindling American Dream. Kathleen received her BA in Studio Art concentrating in Photography at College of Charleston. She received her MFA in Studio Art from Florida State University.
Kathleen lives in Charleston, SC where she used to teach Photography at the College of Charleston. She left teaching to pursue a life in sailing. She is now a full-time 50-ton Master Captain working on SV Mental Heeling.
